Half of All Faults Cleared Storm Recovery Plan Remains in Place eircom to Work Through the Weekend

Friday, 23rd January 2009) eircom has now repaired more than half the faults (11,000), caused by last weekend’s storms. This includes 4,500 faults repaired in past two days. The total number of faults caused by the storms now stands at 22,000. Currently, there are 11,500 customer faults to be addressed.

eircom’s Storm Recovery Programme remains in place and 1,100 field staff will work through the weekend. eircom will also deploy additional staff in our call centres on Saturday between 09.00am and 6.00pm to handle the exceptionally high volume of calls.

Every county, except for Dublin remains affected. North Mayo is the worst affected, but the Western seaboard, Louth, South Kilkenny and Waterford also remain badly affected.

Customers are reminded that faults can be logged on the "Log a Fault" section of our website (www.eircom.ie) or through our automated customer service line 1901. Faults can be reported to either of these services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

eircom would like to assure all of our customers that we have put our full resources into restoring service as soon as possible. Given the high level of faults and the extent of the damage, we expect it will be the end of next weekend before service is restored to some customers.
