The search begins again for Ireland’s best and brightest online, with a call for entries to the annual eircom Golden Spider Awards. The Awards celebrate high achievement and recognise brands, organisations, agencies and individuals who truly innovate, embrace new technologies and exceed expectations online.

Since the Golden Spiders were launched in 1996, there has been considerable change in the world of technology. The Awards programme has been designed to accurately reflect the massive advancements in the online world. A number of new awards have been introduced including a Young Designer of the Year Award as well as Best Blog and People’s Choice Award.

Once again online users will have an opportunity to vote for their favourite from the Judges shortlist in 21 of the award categories. The nominee who receives the most votes from the public poll will win the highly coveted Peoples Choice award.

Speaking at the launch of the 2009 Awards, Michael Kennedy, Marketing Director, eircom said: "Each year the eircom Golden Spider Awards play an integral role in showcasing the best of the Internet in Ireland. They not only provide an opportunity to recognise excellence and innovation but they continue to underline emerging trends and future potential growth sectors within the online community. eircom is very proud to once again sponsor these important Awards".

The eircom Golden Spider Awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, 19th November 2009, at The Burlington Hotel, Dublin. The event will be attended by representatives from the fields of media, advertising, business, technology, entertainment, politics and the arts.
