There's a New Soccer Republic!

eircom today launched a new website – completely dedicated to Irish International soccer. The new website – www.soccerrepublic.ie – provides soccer fans with everything they need to know about Irish soccer. As well as exclusive behind the scenes access to players and comprehensive newsfeeds, the site contains a large video library and an extensive social networking section where fans can discuss and debate every goal, corner, sending off and match victory. On hand to celebrate the launch of the new website was Republic of Ireland Soccer Manager, Giovanni Trapattoni who tomorrow will celebrate his 70th Birthday, sharing his big day with our own patron saint, St. Patrick!

With access to more information on the Irish soccer team than ever before, registered users of eircom’s Soccerrepublic.ie will benefit from a host of additional distinctive features. Users can access exclusive behind-the-scenes video content including team training, interviews with Trap and his right hand men (and women!) and comments from well known former International players. With match by match in-depth commentary fans won’t miss a second of the action and the up-to-the-minute news section not only provides a view of what Irish media are saying but it also gives the inside track on the views of foreign media.

Commenting on the new website, Michael Kennedy, Marketing Director, eircom said "Soccerrepublic.ie is the ultimate one stop shop for Irish team fans. We all know Irish soccer fans are among the most passionate and dedicated fans in the world and this new website celebrates this fact. In essence we have created a new home for Irish soccer – everything you need to know about Irish soccer is on this site. There are entire sections devoted to behind the scenes footage of the players, the management and the back room staff – you won’t get this kind of access anywhere else! Fans can keep up to date with all the latest media gossip about from home and abroad on the site’s news section. We are particularly excited about the extensive social networking aspect to the site – users can build profiles, create groups and debate issues with other soccer fans. We’re building Ireland’s biggest soccer community on this site – if you’re a fan you can’t afford not to register."

An entire section is devoted to the 2010 Road to Africa campaign where fans can quickly locate all the latest news on fixtures, match previews and reviews as well as opposing team news from local media sources.

Video players are featured on every page providing virtual access to the training ground, pre and post match interviews, plus fans will have the opportunity to upload, view and share their own generated content. There’s an extensive competitions section which offers registered users the chances to win "money can’t buy" prizes such as seats on the team plane to away games, VIP match tickets, the chance to be a team mascot and more.
