The FAI have confirmed that they have extended their sponsorship deal with eircom by a further two years until 2010.
Eircom will continue to sponsor the Republic of Ireland national team until 2010, with a further option to renew at the end of that period.
However the telecomunications group have officially ended their title sponsorship of the League of Ireland, although they will be staying on a communications partner, which is worth about €200,000.
FAI Chief Executive John Delaney revealed that he hopes to announce new sponsorship deals for the domestic league by the end of the year.
Delaney added: 'Today's sponsorship announcement increases and reconfirms eircom's commitment to the development of football in Ireland including the eircom League. eircom has been an excellent partner for the FAI to develop and grow the game in all areas.
'I am delighted that they have decided to further enhance that special relationship with fans, players and all involved in the game through today’s important announcement.'
