What is Always on for Sport?

Always on for Sport is eircom’s online sporting channel, bringing you the latest news, results and fixtures from a range of sports and events.

As well as our up to the minute news service, eircom broadband customers can access sports programmes from a range of sporting leagues and events through our exclusive deal with Setanta Sports. This includes the Scottish Premier League, Barclay’s Premiership, Celtic League, eircom League, US PGA Tour and the GAA. Games are archived for at least seven days so you don’t have to worry about missing your favourite games or events.

Will the Setanta Sports events be live or delayed?

Setanta events shown on Always on for Sport will be a mixture of live and delayed programmes. Please see the schedule for complete programming details.

Who can view Setanta Sports events on Always on for Sport?

Live and archived games from Setanta Sports are available on Always on for Sports to all eircom residential customers using broadband time, broadband home starter, broadband home plus and broadband home professional.

Will I get all Setanta Sports Channel content on Always on for Sport?

Although the programmes are similar to the Setanta Sports channel certain Setanta Sports programming will not be included. This is due to the rights contracts that Setanta has negotiated with the respective rights holders. This will only apply to a small percentage of programmes.

Why do I keep getting logged off from Setanta Sports events?

You are only allowed to use one connection at a time. If you have two computers trying to log in at the same time the second login will automatically log off the first. This is a breach of the terms and conditions - simultaneous logons from different computers can result in suspension of your account.

If you only have one connection and still have problems viewing content run the Intelli Help application to diagnose and resolve the issue.

Will I be able to watch the match on a computer other than the one from which I have registered?

Yes, but you are only allowed to use one connection at a time.

I am trying to view a sporting event, but keep getting this message ‘Sorry, the maximum number of users for this service has been exceeded.’

In order to deliver an optimum service we have limited the number of users who can view an event at the same time. This number will increase in the coming months as we continue to improve and expand the service.

What format will be used to broadcast the events?

We will use Windows Media v9 video to stream the matches. In order to view the broadcast, you will need to have Windows Media Player v6.4 or above installed on your computer. You can test the compatibility of your system for viewing events by viewing our demo.

I can get audio, but why is my video screen black?

The error you've experienced may be due to the configuration of your PC. Please follow the steps below to try to resolve this:

  • Check your player version by opening Windows Media Player and choosing About Windows Media Player under the Help tab.
  • Click on the following link to Microsoft to download the codecs package appropriate for your Windows Media Player version.
  • Follow the instructions to install the missing codecs. Note you may need administrative rights to your computer to do this.

I am an eircom broadband customer but cannot access Setanta Sports events on Always on for Sport.

Only eircom customers connecting through the following Broadband packages are eligible to view Setanta Sports events on the Always on for Sport service - broadband time, broadband home starter, broadband home plus and broadband home professional.

If you are using one of these products and still cannot access the service check your connection. You can test the compatibility of your system for viewing events by viewing our demo. If you are unable to view the demo or have problems viewing any content run the IntelliHelp application to diagnose and resolve the issue.

How do I enable my cookies?

To enable cookies, follow the instructions below for the browser version you are using.

Microsoft Internet Explorer

  • Click on the Internet Options from the Tools menu
  • Click on the "Privacy" tab.
  • Select the Default button in the Settings area
  • Click "OK".

Mozilla Firefox

  • Click on the Tools menu
  • Select Options
  • Click on the Privacy icon in the left panel
  • Check the box corresponding to "Allow sites to set cookies"
  • Click "OK" to save changes

Opera

  • Click on the Tools menu in Opera
  • Click on the Preferences... item in the menu – this opens a new window
  • Click on the Privacy selection near the bottom left of the window
  • The Enable cookies checkbox must be checked, and Accept all cookies should be selected in the "Normal coookies" drop-down.
  • Save changes by clicking Ok and go to one of the configuration pages again

Netscape

  • Click Edit on the Toolbar
  • Click Preferences
  • Click the Privacy and Security category; expand the list to show the subcategories
  • Click Cookies
  • Three options are displayed. Click enable cookies for the originating web site only
Does this service work on an Apple Mac Computer?

eircom Always on for Sport is fully compatible with all major operating systems and web browsers. In order to use the service on an Apple Mac you may need to download the correct media playing software.

If you are unable to view the demo or have problems viewing any content on your Apple Mac run the Intelli Help application to diagnose and resolve the issue.

Can I record video from Always on For Sport?

The video content is designed for streaming only and not for download or to be recorded. The majority of games and events we show are stored in our archive section.

I have read the FAQs and the service still doesn't work for me.
