Marathon effort for Support an Athlete

Five fundraisers, four from Clare and one from Galway, are heading off on Monday 19th February 2007 to participate in 10 marathons between the 5 of them in under 10 days! The difference is, the marathons are Antarctica (South Pole) and Tierra del Feugo in Buenos Aires, Argentina, South America in aid of the Support an Athlete campaign for Special Olympics Ireland. They will also participate in the Antarctica International Kayaking Championships in between marathons. The marathon participants are:

Philip Smith from Doonbeg, Co Clare
Mark Rooney from Dublin, via Loughrea, Co Galway
Susan Crawford, Miltown Malbay, Co Clare
Miriam OConnor, Quilty Co Clare
Thomas OConnor, Quilty, Co Clare (brother of Miriam)

All funds pledged go directly to Special Olympics Ireland.
